旧北区に広く分布し、ニュージーランドからも記録されている。日本では温帯域に広く分布する。複眼後方刺毛など体の顕著な刺毛は先端が広がる。触角第3節と第4節の感覚錐はそれぞれ1本 (0+1)と4本 (2+2⁺¹)。前胸の前縁刺毛は短く先端は尖る。各種植物上に生息し、ダニや鱗翅目の卵などを捕食することが知られている。

It is widely distributed in the Palaearctic and has also been recorded from New Zealand. In Japan, it is widely distributed in temperate region. The prominent setae on the body, such as the postocular setae, are delated at apices. The antennal segments III and IV have one (0+1) and four (2+2⁺¹) sense cones, respectively. Pronotal anteromarginal setae reduced, short and acute. It lives on various plants and is known to prey on mites and lepidopteran eggs.
